The History of SunPrint Kits
Since 1975, the SunPrint Kit has offered fun, learning, and creative stimulation for curious minds of all ages. It was originally developed as an educational tool by educators at the Lawrence Hall of Science on the UC Berkeley campus. All proceeds from the sale of SunPrint Kits continue to support our mission to inspire and foster the learning of science and mathematics for everyone.
The SunPrint Solar Paper enables you to create beautiful pictures by simply placing objects on the paper and exposing it to sunlight. The paper undergoes a chemical change when exposed, revealing stunning images. Preserve your prints by soaking them in water and then drying. SunPrint paper is perfect for creative solar art projects. You can even demonstrate UV-blocking sunscreen effectiveness by applying sunscreen to plexiglass and exposing the paper, observing how different strengths of sunscreen alter the resulting image.
SunPrints foster an interest in the photographic process, utilizing only the sun, water, and a touch of imagination.
Simply place a fern, flower, or any object onto the special paper and expose it to the sun briefly. Then, rinse the paper in water and witness a beautiful, long-lasting image magically appear!
