The Army Painter Warpaints Air

The Army Painter Warpaints Air range is the perfect accompaniment for your airbrush, whether you are a beginner or a seasoned veteran of the art form. Our Warpaints Air acrylic paints come pre-thinned and all have added mixing balls for ease of use. No thinner is needed directly from the bottle – just shake the dropper bottles, pour a small amount into your airbrush cup, and you’re ready to airbrush!

Paint Designed for Everyone

The Army Painter Warpaints Air range consists of a myriad of colors, from warm reds and cool blues to muted yellows and fluorescent greens. Even some of the metallics are tinted with color, so your imagination is the only limit when working with these paints. For a beginner, airbrushing can seem like a daunting venture into a world of laborious tasks such as correct thinning ratios to avoid clogging your airbrush nozzle, and pre-mixing colors in the airbrush cup to consistently achieve the correct color across an entire army project, to name just a few. The Army Painter aimed to solve these problems for painters. Our paints are pre-thinned and ready to be poured into the airbrush, come with pre-loaded mixing balls, and are neatly sorted into our suggested color triads. The color triads were the result of trial and error on countless miniatures until we achieved coherent and vibrant color combinations. The triad system is split into three parts: Base, Mid, and High. For perfect color transitions on your miniatures, simply start by applying a layer of a Base color, followed by a moderate amount of a corresponding Mid color, topping it all off with the Highlight. So, whether you are a beginner venturing into the world of airbrushing or a seasoned veteran, you can find a Warpaints Air set for you in our range. The Warpaints Air Starter Set is perfect for beginners, offering the most common colors for the widest range of projects, as well as a large bottle of grey primer. If you feel like you need a greater variety of airbrush paints, allowing you to express yourself even further, the Warpaints Air Mega Set might be the set for you. If you simply cannot go without the ultimate freedom to paint any color scheme you want, the Warpaints Air Complete Set, consisting of every single paint in the range, has you covered.

The Color Triad System

Base Colors: Base colors are often quite opaque and dark, making them perfect for the initial basecoat of your paint project. They establish the shadows and darker parts of the miniature and allow you to smoothly establish seamless subsequent layers of Mid and High colors, giving you perfect color transitions. You can find the name of a color triad’s Base color on the back of the bottle, underneath the names of the High and Mid colors. Mid Colors: Mid colors often represent the actual color you want to portray in your paint job and take up a large portion of the previous Base layer. Because of the semi-opaque nature of Mid colors, they blend smoothly on top of the Base color. The Mid color is applied after the Base coat but should not completely obscure the basecoat so that shadows remain visible. You can find the name of a color triad’s Mid color on the back of the bottle, between the names of the High and Base colors. High Colors: High colors act as the final layer of paint on top of the two previous Base and Mid colors. They are quite transparent and blend seamlessly into the color transition created by the previous two layers. This last highlight creates a large amount of contrast and should be applied sparsely so as not to completely obscure the Base and Mid layers. You can find the name of a color triad’s High color on the back of the bottle, above the names of the Mid and Base colors.

Airbrush Essentials

In the Warpaints Air range, you will find the most essential items for airbrush painting, all in 100ml dropper bottles: Thinner, Cleaner, gloss, matte, and satin Varnish, as well as black, grey, and white matte Primers. Colorful Metallics: Although the Warpaints Air Metallics don’t come in color triads, there are still many metallic colors to choose from, such as golds, silvers, and bronzes. Additionally, you will find colored metallics such as the red metallic color ‘Gemstone’ or the green metallic color ‘Glitter Green’ among the range! Fluorescent Colors: In addition to our color triad system’s base, mid, and highlight colors, as well as the metallic colors, the Warpaints Air range hosts an assortment of vibrant fluorescent colors which can be useful for creating glow effects and object source lighting.

Perfect Consistency

The Army Painter Warpaints Air range was specially formulated to be as user-friendly and hassle-free as possible, providing the perfect consistency for airbrush use. Just shake the bottle and pour the paint directly into your airbrush cup before painting! Pre-Loaded Mixing Balls: Tired of wearing your arm out shaking bottles for minutes on end? Our paint bottles come pre-loaded with two mixing balls, significantly reducing the time needed before you can begin pouring paints into your airbrush after shaking. Ultra-Fine Pigments: We pride ourselves on the ultra-fine pigments used in the Warpaints Air range, enabling you to create the smoothest color transitions in your artwork. This ensures that airbrush clogging is a non-issue and helps retain the intricate details of your precious miniatures. Versatility: Our Warpaints Air products are usable on a wide variety of surfaces. The acrylic formulation allows you to paint smooth coats on objects made of materials like plastic, resin, pewter, XPS foam, or cardboard.
